The SLPA works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support the delivery of speech and language services to children with special needs. This role focuses on implementing treatment plans, assisting with therapy activities, and promoting communication and functional outcomes for clients. The SLPA helps ensure therapy sessions run efficiently while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

What Your Day Looks Like:

• Follow regulatory, ethical, and safety standards in all therapy activities.
• Assist the SLP in implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Provide client therapy sessions, including speech, language, and communication activities under the direct of the SLP.
• Prepare and maintain therapy materials, adaptive equipment, and activity areas.
• Participate in therapy-related documentation and progres monitoring, including session notes and data collection.
• Support SLP in integrating assistive technology or AAC strategies if required.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a state-approved Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program.
• Current SLPA certification/licensure (as required by state regulations).

Schedule and Work Structure

This role offers flexibility across school-based and clinic settings. As with most pediatric roles, schedules may vary due to:

• Student absences
• Family cancellations
• School calendars and breaks

• Assists with scheduling coordination when possible
• Communicates anticipated changes proactively
