Sheryl Yetto Trainor

MS, OTR/L California
Certificate Spiritual Direction

After graduation from college in 1980, I volunteered on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona as an OT assistant and Special Education Teacher before completing my Master’s degree in OT in 1986.

Over the past 38 years I have been privileged to work as a school therapist, college instructor, early-intervention therapist/administrator, and private practice pediatric therapist. These roles and experiences supported my own learning and growth along with sharing knowledge and strategies with others. I gained as much from the children, families and my colleagues as from my many continuing education and certification courses. My career has and continues to provide meaning and joy on my journey!

After, working directly with children over the last 40 years, my current focus is mentoring and in an advisory role at GHS.

Treatment Approach

I am no longer engaging with direct treatment with children. I offer clinical and reflective mentoring with therapists, staff, and other adults. Within clinical mentoring I share information on developmental theory, SOS (sequential-oral-sensory) Feeding Model, SPD (sensory processing disorder), DIR (Play-based) model and psychosocial theory.

Within reflective mentoring I offer a collaborative approach to explore personal impact of work, relationships and therapeutic use of self, as well as, feelings/beliefs that arise while working with clients/colleagues and families.
