Monica Sampson

M.S., OTR/L, C/NDT, SIPT
Occupational Therapist, Registered and Licensed, CA

I received my Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University in 1989. Prior to that I received my Bachelor of Science in Neurological Psychology from the University of California, Davis. I love being a pediatric occupational therapist (OT) and have dedicated my career to working in pediatrics in a variety of settings, including private clinics, schools, CCS, and outpatient hospital care.

I first became interested in occupational therapy when I was in my undergraduate program exploring physical therapy in a variety of settings. When I was shadowing at a pediatric physical therapy setting, I discovered the field of occupational therapy and continued shadowing in OT for two more years. I went on to graduate school to receive my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy and completed an additional rotation in pediatrics so I could pursue my career as a pediatric occupational therapist. I have worked as a pediatric OT for thirty-four years in a variety of settings from school-based to clinic-based. I love working as an OT in pediatrics because I have a passion for children and their families learning through play so they can become more self-regulated. This self-regulation creates a more peaceful and joyous home environment which assists children and their families in achieving their goals. I have enjoyed every moment of my career learning more about how to help kids (and their families) love life and live it fully!
